Fast Start Wiped Away By Another Poor Third Period; Sharks Losing Streak Reaches Eight With Loss To Senators

Another third-period lead would go wrong for the San Jose Sharks, who lost 5-3 to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.

San Jose is now on an eight-game losing streak, and Ottawa snapped a five-game losing streak.

Tim Stutzle, Shane Pinto, Brady Tkachuk, and David Perron scored for the Senators, and Linus Ullmark made 33 saves.

Tyler Toffoli and Timothy Liljegren scored for the Sharks, and Will Smith had a goal and an assist to extend his point streak to three games. Vitek Vanecek made 27 saves.

Macklin Celebrini also had two assists.

San Jose outskated the Sens early in the game, but the third period struggles reared their ugly head once again as the Sharks blew a one-goal third period lead for the third straight game.

Pinto takes a breakaway pass and beats Vanecek by the glove shorthanded to give the Senators a 1-0 lead at 11:05 of the first period.

Toffoli ties the game up 1-1 on the power play at 5:17 of the second period after a feed in front to Macklin Celebrini went off the defenseman's foot and in.

Liljegren gave the Sharks a 2-1 lead with another power-play goal as his one-timer from the point beat Ullmark over the glove.

Tkachuk tied the game 2-2 on a two-man advantage at 1:26 of the third period.

After a bad bounce off the boards, Tim Stutzle put the puck into an open net to give the Senators a 3-2 lead at 3:00.

David Perron scores to give the Senators a 4-2 lead after a rebound went right back to him.

Smith finished a pretty passing play to make it 4-3 on the power play.

Michael Amadio scored the empty netter to make it 5-3.
