The Swedish native signed a two-year deal with the Sharks in 2022, and it is safe to say it hasn't worked out for the former Masterton Trophy winner. He's played 74 games in teal, with 73 coming during his first season, 22-23. He got into one game in the NHL this season but spent the season in the AHL with the San Jose Barracuda.
Lindblom had eight goals and eight assists in 41 games for the 'Cuda this season.
According to a report from Gefle Dagblad, Lindblom has asked his agent to seek options to play in his native Sweden this offseason.
"We have been talking to him since November," Brynäs sports director Johan Alcén said. "We've been banking on him but he needs to make a choice. We stand with open arms if he wants to go home, he is welcome here whenever he wants."
Brynäs is where Lindblom played the majority of his youth hockey, and it is also where he made his professional hockey debut during the 2013-14 SHL season.
The soon-to-be unrestricted free agent has spent seven years in North America and has played for the Sharks and Philadelphia Flyers. In 337 career NHL games, the forward has 56 goals and 56 assists.
Lindblom was awarded the Masterton Trophy after the 2020-21 season after he returned from a fight with cancer.
His time in North America looks like it is coming to a close, but nothing has been made official yet, and he won't be deemed a UFA until July 1st.
