Concerns still surround San Jose Sharks captain Logan Couture's return to the ice, but GM Mike Grier says there is a plan.
Grier met with media members following yesterday's blockbuster trade with the Nashville Predators, in which the Sharks acquired top goalie prospect Yaroslav Askarov.
Couture told reporters he would return to the ice in July, but Grier confirmed that hasn't happened.
"Nothing too much different than what [Warsofsky said]. I saw him here today. He's working hard. He's in really good spirits. I think he's enjoying being back in the gym and being around the guys," Grier said about the captain. "He hasn't been on the ice yet, but, you know, that's all been kind of part of the plan. He's in really good spirits and working hard to get his body right and hopefully get out there and help us win some games."
Couture's injury still raises many questions. The centerman has told reporters that no surgery is available for his deep groin issue. With rest being the only fix, questions remain about whether Couture can return to play other than the six games he played last season.
Training camp is set to begin next month, and most players are starting to do some on-ice workouts on their own time. Couture still can't be ruled out, but the Sharks' plan for his return is unclear.
