The San Jose Sharks have signed Justin Bailey to a two-way contract and placed Filip Zadina on IR.
Bailey has 11 points (six goals, five assists) through 16 games with the San Jose Barracuda this season. He leads the team in goals and powerplay goals (three) and is tied for second in overall scoring.
Bailey signed a PTO with the Sharks for training camp and was rewarded with an AHL contract. He has been one of the leaders for the Cuda all season long.
His skating ability should help bring speed and forechecking to the Sharks lineup.
In a corresponding move, the Sharks have placed forward Filip Zadina on IR. Zadina left Friday's game against the Montreal Canadiens with an upper-body injury. He did not play against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday.
The Sharks are about to embark on a six-game road trip. This move allows the Sharks to have flexible roster management.
Bailey has appeared in 82 career NHL games, registering nine points (five goals, four assists) while splitting time between the Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, and Buffalo Sabres.
Bailey could make his Sharks debut tonight against the Washington Capitals. He will wear No. 90 for Team Teal.
