The San Jose Sharks acquired Mikael Granlund, and he is ready to get to work for Team Teal.
Mikael Granlund is ready to come in and produce for the San Jose Sharks.
Granlund was a part of the return for Erik Karlsson, and although he struggled mightily in Pittsburgh, he feels he is ready to come in and compete.
"I am confident I can do much more than I did in Pittsburgh, and that's why I'm really, really excited about this opportunity, and I can really show so people and myself obviously didn't work out for me or the team in Pittsburgh, so confident things are gonna be a little bit different next season," Granlund said on Monday.
In 21 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Granlund scored just five points (one goal, four assists).
Granlund has been a successful player in the NHL. He has scored over 60 points three times in his career. Twice with the Minnesota Wild and once with the Nashville Predators.
"I can play in pretty much all situations: the penalty kill—power play. I can help the team in many different ways, and I take myself as a pretty smart player. I see what's going on out there," Granlund said. "So hopefully, I can bring a lot of those things on the table and help my teammates and linemates to have the best season of my career."
Granlund has played both at center and on the wing.
"I can play many different roles. I'm comfortable and in any position," Granlund explained. "We'll see how everything's gonna work out [and] where I end up. Hopefully, I can give out options for the coaches and for the team to be at our best."
Granlund is 31 years old and knows what it takes to win. He has a clutch gene to his game as well.

Granlund missed the playoffs for the first time in his career last season. This proves he knows what it takes for the San Jose Sharks to return to the postseason.
"I can bring something good because even [in] San Jose, we can grow as a team," Granlund said.
Granlund knew there were rumors of him possibly getting traded, so having him in this strong mindset will benefit the San Jose Sharks.
