Fabian Zetterlund scored his sixth goal of the season, tying him for most on the team. Mackenzie Blackwood was once again brilliant for San Jose, making 33 saves. Justin Bailey made his Sharks debut and got the primary assist on Kunin's goal.
Evgeny Kuznetsov scored the only goal for the Capitals. Washington was unlucky all night as they hit multiple posts, including an Alex Ovechkin one-timer in the first period. Darcy Kuemper made 21 saves.
The game was very physical. Tom Wilson laid out Calen Addison in the first. Mikael Granlund dropped Ovechkin. Throughout the game, big hit after big hit was thrown.
Tomas Hertl missed the game due to a mid-body injury. Marc-Edouard Vlasic was scratched in favor of Nikita Okhotiuk.
