The San Jose Sharks (8-17-2) finish their six-game road trip against the Vegas Golden Knights (18-5-5) tonight.
San Jose recalled Henry Thrun from the San Jose Barracuda yesterday, but Sharks head coach David Quinn said he isn't sure if he will be in the lineup.
"Just to have an extra body here and fill the 23rd spot," Quinn said yesterday.
Matt Benning has missed the last two games with an injury. Quinn said he is dealing with the same injury he had earlier in the season that landed him on IR for almost a month. Quinn didn't have a timeline but expects a week-to-week situation.
There has been a goalie rotation over the road trip. Kaapo Kahkonen and Mackenzie Blackwood have alternated starts. Blackwood got the last start against the Detroit Red Wings but was pulled.
Luke Kunin won't play tonight, but Quinn said yesterday that he is close to returning. Quinn also said that the rest of the lineup isn't finalized.
"[I'm] not sure if there'll be any lineup changes," Quinn said. "We have got some things that we're not sure of from a health standpoint."
Golden Knights' centerman Jack Eichel is on a six-game point streak, scoring 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists).
"Both guys have played really well," Quinn said. "With these two guys, I don't think too far ahead. It's really game by game, and it's nice to have two guys that are playing as well as they are."
The Sharks have given up the first goal in back-to-back games. They have also gotten behind 3+ goals in each game. The Golden Knights will be arguably their toughest matchup of the road trip.
Sharks projected lines:
Eklund-Hertl-Barabanov
Zetterlund-Granlund-Duclair
Bailey-Sturm-Labanc
MacDonald-Zadina-Hoffman
Ferraro-Burroughs
Okhotiuk-Rutta
Vlasic-Addison
Kakhkonen
Blackwood
Puck drop is at 7 p.m. PST and can be seen on NBC Sports California or the Sharks Audio Network.
