San Jose Sharks defenseman was nominated for the 2022-23 James Norris Memorial Trophy as best defenseman in the NHL.
Erik Karlsson posted a career-high 101 points this season for the San Jose Sharks and is now rewarded with his Norris Trophy Nomination.
Karlsson became the sixth defenseman all-time to score 100 points in a single season. The last time it was done was with Brian Leetch for the New York Rangers in 1992.
Karlsson finished the season with 25 goals and 76 assists. By far and away the leading point scorer on the San Jose Sharks.
Karlsson is familiar with this trophy as he is already a two-time winner back when he was with the Ottawa Senators. He won his first trophy in 2011-12 as a 21-year-old and his second in 2014-15 as a 24-year-old.
Today's nomination marks as the fifth time Karlsson has finished within the top three in voting for the Norris Trophy.
Colorado Avalanche's Cale Makar and the New York Rangers Adam Fox are also nominated for this season's Norris Trophy.
