San Jose Sharks legend Patrick Marleau will be inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in May.
He joins fellow Bay Area sports legends Brian Sabean, John Taylor, Jenny Thompson, and Chris Wondolowski.
"We are extremely excited to induct the 2024 class into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame," said Mario Alioto, Board Chair of BASHOF. "Each of these individuals has achieved a rare level of success during their careers and helped bring worldwide attention to the Bay Area. It's especially gratifying that this class also recognizes athletes in several sports that have been historically underrepresented in BASHOF relative to their positive impact on the greater Bay Area community."
Marleau is the Sharks in games with 1,607 and the NHL all-time leader in games with 1,779. He has 1,111 career points with the Sharks. He was the first player in Sharks history to have his number retired. He will have his number 12 joined by Joe Thornton's 19 next season.
Marleau and Thornton won a gold medal for Canada in the 2010 Olympics. Marleau would win a second one in 2014.
Marleau will join an illustrious group of athletes who have cemented their mark on sports in the Bay Area.
