Despite the 4-2 losing scoreline, the San Jose Sharks dominated play agians the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night.
San Jose outshot the Ducks 48-26. Lukas Dostal was standing on his head making 46 saves.
Justin Bailey and Nathan Todd scored for the Sharks.
Radim Simek left the game late in the first period and did not return. A tough blow for the defenseman as he is battling for a roster spot. Head Coach David Quinn said that Simek's injury is a lower-body one.
Georgi Romanov made his first appearance in an NHL game and showed his nerves. Romanov finished with 22 saves but coach Quinn was happy with his performance.
"It's his first NHL game. I'm sure there's a lot of nerves," Quinn said. "[I'm] very excited about him as a prospect."
Late in the third period Filip Zadina got hit from behind by veteran Alex Killorn. Killorn received two minutes for roughing. Quinn said post game that he belives that Zadina's injury isn't serious but would know more once they return home to San Jose tomorrow morning.
"A real thorough hit," Quinn said postgame. "I couldn't see it. It was right to the left of our bench. I couldn't see whether it was late or whether he had the puck. I really couldn't see it because it was the left of our bench and then all hell broke loose."
The San Jose Sharks will practice the next two days before they face the Los Angeles Kings at home Saturday night.
