San Jose Sharks defenseman Henry Thrun has had a superb training camp, but his spot on the NHL roster is not solidified.

Henry Thrun would seem like a lock for the San Jose Sharks opening night roster. David Quinn told THN today that his spot is not yet secure.
"No," Quinn said when asked if his spot was solidified. As for what he needs to do to claim his NHL spot:
"Keep playing the way he has been. Continue to be consistent with the way he's played," Quinn explained. "There's a lot of things that go into your decision when you're in this situation. This situation will be cleared up here by next Thursday."
Although it doesn't seem likely that Thrun won't make the NHL roster, his contract status allows the Sharks to be more flexible.
Thrun is waivers exempt, unlike other young defensemen like Ty Emberson and Nikita Okhotiuk.
Thrun has felt good about how his camp and preseason have gone.
"Personally, I was happy with it. I think it was a really solid game for me," Thurn said about his game last night. "For me, that's usually the first box I look to check is being solid and responsible. If I'm able to show some offensive flashes, and I think last night there were a couple here and there, but the most important thing to me was playing solid, and I thought I did a good job of that."
Thrun has shown an ability to quarterback a powerplay. In San Jose's first preseason game, he had two powerplay points (1 goal, 1 assist).
Yet again, in practice today, he was a top one of the powerplay units.
Although his spot is not guaranteed, Thrun's chances of making the San Jose Sharks seem high. With the injury to Radim Simek and Leon Gawanke being waived, Thrun projects to have a significant role with San Jose this year.
