The Coachella Valley Firebirds are still leading their AHL playoff series with Milwaukee three games to one, right?
This is the same Admirals team which the Firebirds beat 4-2 to get to the Calder Cup Final last year, right?
Just checking, because for a team which has been dominated the last two years, Admirals players sure are talking a good game.
After Milwaukee had stayed alive in the Western Conference Final Thursday with a 7-2 victory in Game 4, winger Joakim Kemmel addressed a radio audience and the crowd at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. "We're going to beat them," Kimmel promised for Game 5 on Saturday.
Earlier in the series, Ads defenseman Spencer Stastney had engaged in some bizarre trash-talking. "The word around the league is, these guys were maybe born with a silver spoon in their mouth." Suggesting, apparently, that it's easier for an expansion franchise like Coachella Valley to build a roster.
"We put our foot in the door," added Stastney, who might have mistaken the door for his own mouth. After his comments, the Firebirds won Game 2, 3-1 at Acrisure Arena on Friday. Look what showed up after the game on the home interview room table (lower photo).
Game 5 puck drop is just after 4 pm Pacific time on Saturday. We'll provide our usual postgame highlights & analysis on the site after it's done.
