Seattle shook off a blown three-goal lead to snap a winless streak against Utah, securing a gritty 5-3 victory fueled by Mackie Samoskevich’s decisive late-game heroics.

After falling short to the Mammoth in all three meet ups during the 2025-26 season, the Kraken took the ice tonight hoping to turn the tide.  It was the second game of a 4-game home stand for Seattle and they were fresh off a shoot out win against the Detroit Red Wings.

In an almost eerily-similar start to Tuesday, the team took an early lead.  Utah was fast to get on the board, but by the end of the second period goals from Jordan Eberle, Matty Beniers, and Brandon Montour had the Kraken up 3-1.

Utah opened scoring in the third with a power play goal from Logan Cooley.  Former Kraken Kailer Yamamoto quickly followed with one of his own, but it was overturned due to the play being offsides.  It did not take long for Utah to tie it up: a second goal from Cooley brought the score to an even 3-3.

The Kraken took their time out. When asked about it in post-game interviews, Coach Lane Lambert said the team was "standing there watching them play...we needed to be reminded that we're actually pretty good too.”  After the timely reminder, the Kraken regrouped.  Mackie Samoskevich put the game-winning tally on the board and with just one minute remaining Freddy Gaudreau scored on the open net.  5-3, final.
