The Seattle Kraken have lost their first two preseason games after they lost 3-1 to the Vancouver Canucks.
The Kraken took five consecutive penalties before they got their first chance on the power play, and the Canucks took full advantage of it, scoring twice on the power play. The Canucks also outshot the Kraken 26-19.
Joey Daccord stopped 17 of the 19 shots he faced in his two periods of play and Ales Stezka stopped all six attempts that were thrown his way.
Nils Hoglander opened the scoring for the Canucks off of a pretty passing play that resulted from a clean shot in front of the Kraken's net. The Canucks outshot the Kraken in the first period 9-8 and John Hayden dropped the gloves with 6'6 Viktor Alriksson after he threw a hit on Logan Morrison.
Filip Hronek extended the Canucks lead to 2-0 on the Canucks fifth power play of the game. He unleashed a booming one-timer from the point that beat Daccord. With the three attempts on the man advantage, the Canucks outshot the Kraken 11-6 in the second period.
Ben Meyers cut the Canucks lead in half just 10 seconds into the third period after a neat backhand saucer pass by Jaden Schwartz. The third period was a physical one with Brandon Tanev and Mark Friedman fighting. Despite this being just their second preseason game, the two teams clearly have animosity for each other and the rivalry continues to grow.
With the goalie pulled Pius Suter ended the Kraken's hopes by sliding the puck into the open cage.
The Kraken are back in action in Seattle on Friday when they have a rematch with the Canucks.
