The Calgary Flames' brief perfect season came to end Saturday night as the Kraken defeated their Pacific rivals 2-1 in overtime. The Flames were one game short of setting a franchise record for longest season-opening winning streak.
Jordan Eberle scored the game winning goal 48 seconds into overtime for the Seattle Kraken.
The Kraken were down 1-0 after Blake Coleman's power-play goal at 19:51 of the first period. Chandler Stephenson scored his first goal as a Kraken with a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 12:25 of the second.
Joey Daccord had another standout performance with 21 saves and holding off the Flames in the third period as the game went into overtime. The crowd broke into cheers of "Jo-ey, Jo-ey, Jo-ey" on several occasions. The overly enthusiastic net-minder had a case of the zoomies during the post-game celebration.
Calgary's starting goalie Dan Vladar also had 21 saves and was the third star of the game. Tonight's win places the Kraken second in the Pacific division, one game behind the Flames. The homestand continues on Tuesday as the Kraken host the Colorado Avalanche.
