
2026 started off right when the Kraken took on the Predators and secured a 4-1 victory on New Year's Day. It was the first time the teams met during the 2025-26 season. Hopes were high that when the teams faced each other for the second time the result would be similar. While the Kraken started out strong, they could not maintain the momentum and allowed Nashville a come-from-behind victory. It was the Kraken's third straight loss.

Barely ten minutes later, Matty Beniers put another tally on the board. The Kraken continued to dominate first period play, forcing Nashville on the defensive and only allowing them seven shots on goal. The period ended with the Kraken up 2-0.
The tide quickly turned as the second period began. Nashville came out swinging; it took less than five minutes for Tyson Jost to get the Predators on the board. Additional goals from Reid Schaefer and Ryan Ufko left the Kraken down 2-3 after 40 minutes.

Photo by Candace Kludt | The Hockey NewsIn the final 20 Seattle attempted to rally but Nashville had tightened their defense and stubbornly held on to the lead. With just over two minutes remaining, the Kraken pulled goaltender Joey Daccord for the man advantage. It did not change the Kraken’s fate. With only five seconds left, Nashville’s Steven Stamkos put the nail in the coffin with an empty-netter, bringing the score to 4-2 and the victory to the Predators.
The Kraken return to Climate Pledge Arena on Thursday, March 12th to face the Colorado Avalanche.
