Seattle Kraken goaltender Philipp Grubauer will return to the lineup as the backup against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Grubauer has been away from the team for the past two games with what HC Dan Bylsma described as an "accident" at home.
He has recovered from the injury but Bylsma and the rest of the coaching staff have elected to start Joey Daccord, who will be making his third consecutive start. Through the team's first 16 games, Daccord has been the better netminder, posting a .916 SV% and a 2.71 GAA compared to Grubauer's .877 SV% and 3.27 GAA.
The Kraken have a back-to-back on the weekend, taking on the New York Islanders on Saturday and then the New York Rangers on Sunday. Grubauer and Daccord will certainly split the starts but Bylsma will have final input on who starts which game.
The Kraken are coming off a comeback win against the Columbus Blue Jackets where they netted four goals in the second period. Daccord faced 40 shots and turned away 38 of them. Tonight, the Kraken will battle with young sensation Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks.
The Blackhawks don't have the most potent offence in the NHL but Bedard has the ability to take over a game on any given night. Both Daccord and the Kraken will need to be prepared to receive Bedard's best.
