The Seattle Kraken are hosting the Winnipeg Jets who have won their first six games of the season.
The Kraken are coming off of a hard-fought loss to the Colorado Avalanche. An even game ended 3-2 in favour of the Avalanche after they dominated the second period outshooting the Kraken 17-5. Jared McCann scored his 100th goal of his Kraken career and Ryker Evans recorded his second goal and fifth point of the season.
The Jets are off to an outstanding start to the season, winning all six matchups. They started the season with a 6-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers then back-to-back overtime wins. They then won three convincing games to improve to 6-0.
Tonight's matchup against the Jets will be the Kraken's toughest task of the season. To date, they've played measuring stick games against the Minnesota Wild, Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators and the Calgary Flames but they've yet to play a team that has been playing as well as the Jets currently are.
Connor Hellebuyck has played five games this season recording a .948 SV% and a 1.40 GAA. He is not only leading the early race for the Vezina trophy but can be considered a favourite for the Hart Trophy.
The Kraken are going to need to fire a lot of pucks at Hellebuyck and was need to crash the net for rebounds. Beating the 31-year-old netminder with a shot that he can see is a near-impossible task at the moment.
The Jets power play is clicking at 44.4%, tops in the NHL by 3.53%. The Kraken penalty kill has struggled, killing just 73.7% of their opportunities. The Kraken penalty kill unit will have to be on it's A game tonight and they must avoid taking ill-advised penalties.
