Kraken Fans Drown Out Arena Host with Cheers During Jessica Campbell's Team Introduction

The Seattle Kraken celebrated a night of "Firsts" on Tuesday at Climate Pledge Arena. It marked the team's first regular-season opener on home ice. Although the Kraken lost 3-2 to the St. Louis Blues, the most significant story emerged from behind the bench, rather than on the ice.
As arena host Chet Buchanan announced the members of the Kraken staff, cheers and screams drowned him out when the spotlight fell on Assistant Coach Jessica Campbell—the first woman to coach an NHL team!
Speaking to the media this week Campbell expressed how she felt about her new role. "It fuels me every day just knowing that I'm a part of something way bigger than myself and my job and coaching."

“I just know that the young kids who are at their first hockey game tomorrow, all they're going to know is that there can be a female coach behind the bench, it's really special for me,” Campbell said.
