The Seattle Thunderbirds will host the Everett Silvertips for this season's Battle of the Sound on December 27th at Climate Pledge Arena.
The annual event hosted by the Thunderbirds showcases two WHL teams on the home ice of the Seattle Kraken. This will be the second meeting between the two clubs since the event's debut in 2022 at Climate Pledge Arena. The Thunderbirds defeated last year's rivals, the Portland Winterhawks, on St. Patrick's Day.
The Silvertips are currently in first place in the Western Division after wrapping up a successful road trip, during which the team's new goaltender, Jesse Sanche, earned his first shutout of the season against the Portland Winterhawks.
The Thunderbirds are in tenth place but have a couple of advantages, including former Silvertip Will Jamieson. Goaltender Scott Ratzlaff recently signed an entry-level contract with the Buffalo Sabres and is expected to appear in the World Juniors this season.
It will be exciting to watch Kraken prospects Kaden Hammell and Julius Miettinen, both of the Silvertips, skating on the Kraken's home ice.
