Seattle Kraken's home, Climate Pledge Arena, will host a PWHL game between the Montreal Victoire and the Boston Fleet on Jan. 5, with ticket presale beginning on Thursday, Nov. 21, followed by the general on sale on Friday, Nov. 22.
On Monday, the Professional Women’s Hockey League announced that Seattle would host one of the nine neutral-site regular-season games in the PWHL Takeover Tour.
Seattle will host the first neutral-site game, which will feature Montreal's Marie-Philip Poulin and Boston's Hilary Knight. The game will be played on Jan. 5 at 1:00 p.m. PST.
Some of the other host cities include Vancouver, Colorado, Raleigh, St. Louis, Quebec City, Buffalo, and Detroit.
“Bringing PWHL games to fans across both countries is a natural next step as we continue building our audience,” said PWHL Senior Vice President of Business Operations Amy Scheer in a press release. “When exploring potential locations for a PWHL game, the enthusiasm from cities eager to engage with our League was incredibly encouraging. The PWHL Takeover Tour lets us showcase our game and exceptional athletes across a wider North American footprint—an exciting moment for our players and an important move for our business as we consider expansion.”
As the PWHL continues to expand and attempt to grow the game, Seattle looks to be making a name for themselves in future expansion talks.
