Triumph the Insult Comic Dog in human form would be a kindred spirit to the host of "Tenny's Talks."
For the uninitiated, "Tenny" is the alter-ego of AHL Coachella Valley defenseman Matt Tennyson. Over the summer, "Tenny" hosted a series of tongue-in-cheek talk show videos with players on the Seattle Kraken farm team.
When it was Kraken prospect Tye Kartye's turn to visit the intentionally gaudy beach-themed set, Tennyson took aim at the young forward's facial hair.

"I recently went with a goatee," Kartye explained. "That didn't seem to work, so we brought it back to the mustache."
Tennyson's co-host of sorts, Ryker Evans, decked out in a life vest and sitting in a kiddie wading pool, asked if the goatee had frightened people. "No, I don't think anyone was scared," Kartye answered.
"I also find if I don't have any facial hair," Tye explained, "I look like I'm 16." Kartye then asked a question of his own. "What should I go with?" Tennyson replied, "Go clean shaven. Look respectable. You just look like a creep right now."
Hi-Yo!
"Tenny's Talks" with Tye Kartye, aside from several smiles, did provide one bit of actual useful information. Most of us, including his Coachella Valley teammates, have been mispronouncing his name. His surname isn't CAR-tee-ay, it's CAR-chay.

With this media obligation out of the way, Kartye and Evans are headed to a far different gathering at the Washington Capitals practice facility on September 5th.
It's called the NHLPA Rookie Showcase, as explained by russianmachineneverbreaks.com. "The NHLPA and card manufacturer Upper Deck hold the event annually to gather photos and event-used merchandise for trading cards. During the day, Upper Deck also acquires signatures for those card sets.
"Players dressed in full team equipment cycle through different stations throughout the day, posing for Upper Deck photographers and doing media for social media. There typically is a scrimmage at the end."
Evans and Kartye are expected to mingle with the top three picks for June's NHL draft, Connor Bedard (Chicago Blackhawks), Leo Carlsson (Anaheim Ducks), and Adam Fantilli (Columbus Blue Jackets).
Also invited is Conor Geekie, 2022 first round pick of the Phoenix Coyotes, and younger brother of former Kraken Morgan Geekie, now with the Bruins.
