Seattle Coach Hakstol: "Mentally, We're In A Good State"

The Seattle Kraken taking three of a possible four points from top teams in their last two games becomes more impressive when you consider the players they were missing.
In Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to Dallas, Seattle finished with 10 forwards. Leading scorer Jared McCann is listed as day-to-day, and wasn't available in the Kraken's gutty 2-1 victory Wednesday over the L.A. Kings.
The other player who couldn't finish Monday's game, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, has been places on IR and is expected to miss a minimum of four weeks. Bellemare joins previous long term injuries to Andre Burakovsky, Jaden Schwartz, and Philipp Grubauer.
Despite that, Seattle rode goals from Brandon Tanev and Jordan Eberle, and a 42-save effort from Joey Daccord, to overcome their Pacific Division rivals. Eberle earned the Davy Jones hat.
Both coaches largely agreed on how the game was won (and lost). Kings bench boss Todd McLellan's remarks were especially blunt.
Kraken Coach Dave Hakstol
Kraken coach Dave Hakstol."They had a ton of shot volume, not a ton of high quality. We spent 3 1/2 minutes in our own zone (in the 1st period). Ultimately, Joey did a really good job getting us through that period."
"He's making timely saves, all the saves that he should, big saves. Those are the kind of things that lift up your bench."
On Jordan Eberle's Recent Strong Play
"It's nice to see Ebs build off his game two nights ago (in Dallas). He played very well, had some good opportunities (against the Stars). Tonight, we was able to finish on a nice play from Matty up the middle. Hopefully, that will help Ebs continue to build momentum."
"Resolve And Determination"
"Mentally, we're in a good state. Some (games) we've had to fight our way back to earn a point. The losses in overtime are disappointing, but for sure the one the other night (Monday's 4-3 OT loss in Dallas) was a point well earned.
Tonight, the resolve and the determination shows through. I keep hearing, we can 'build on' this. We've been playing really good hockey the last eight, nine games. It's been our most consistent stretch."
Dealing With Injures To Forward Group
"We just have to adjust. On the power play, Burkie, Schwartzy, Canner, those guys affect the power play, not just the 5-on-5. Canner and Belly are two of our top five PKers, so other guys have to step in."
"Whatever you're called upon to do, when you have guys out of the lineup, that's what the guys in the lineup have to do. You gotta go out and do the job and do it together."
Kings Coach Todd McLellan
Kings coach Todd McLellan."The volume (of shots) was there. I don't think we did a real good job at the net. We didn't really want to get dirty, get down and dig in around the net. They're big and strong so they didn't give up much there. They check well."
Seattle Killed All Four L.A. Power Plays
"If we were going to sum up tonight on offense, I would go right to the power play. We had seven minutes and get two shots on goal. We were shooting pucks into people."
"I thought we moved like turtles on it, thinking rather than playing. We had poor pace with puck movement. We'd move it to a player; he would stop, handle the puck, look around, analyze everything, move it to the next guy."
