Every Seattle Kraken player has recorded at least one point in the team's first ten games of the season.
The Kraken have made their approach to offence this season very clear; they want to score by committee and run four balanced lines. Some players have more skills than others and will generate more offence but to start the year, they've gotten contributions from everyone.
Just last week, HC Dan Bylsma spoke to the media and mentioned that he doesn't view his lines as one through four.
"I don’t really decipher one through four," Bylsma said. "If you’ve paid attention to that, you might question why I’m starting Gourde and Tanev and Karts for the start of the game. But they’ve been the line that—in the beginning of the game—was getting us good shifts, good offensive-zone shifts, playing with a lot of speed and pace. So I don’t really look at them as a fourth line."
Tuesday's game against the Montreal Canadiens proved to be a perfect example of Bylsma's philosophy. The Kraken put eight past Sam Montembeault and Cayden Primeau, with five different scorers. The offence was headlined by Brandon Montour's natural hat trick but Josh Mahura's assist on Eeli Tolvanen's goal meant that the only two players on the Kraken roster without a point are Philipp Grubauer and Joey Daccord.
The depth scoring has been inconsistent to start the 2024-25 campaign but games like yesterday's are proof that the mindset of four evenly balanced lines can work. Finding consistency will allow the Kraken to fight for a playoff spot and garner the respect they believe they deserve from their opponents.
