Wennberg, Traded Wednesday, Played 222 Games For Seattle

Alex Wennberg, traded Wednesday from the Seattle Kraken, made a successful Broadway debut Saturday night.

In the New York Rangers' 4-0 shutout of the St. Louis Blues at Madison Sq. Garden, the Swedish center skated 15:12. He earned his first point, an assist on the Blueshirts' fourth goal.

"The first couple of shifts, maybe a little rusty, but for me, it felt great," Wennberg said to NHL.com. "Obviously, coming to a great team as well. At the end of the day, all that matters is the win and the points."

Wennberg signed with Seattle as a free agent in the summer of 2021.

Wennberg totaled 100 points in 222 regular-season games with the Kraken.

Among those 100 points were 33 goals, 67 assists.

Wennberg also scored in the Kraken's first-ever playoff game, April 18, 2023 against Colorado.

Wennberg often was taked with checking the opposition's biggest offensive stars, like Edmonton's Connor McDavid.

Saturday, NY Post writer Mollie Walker tweeted, "Alex Wennberg's all-white stick is so cool."

Wennberg at CPA March 2, 2024 vs. the Oilers, his final game suiting up for Seattle.

“We thank Alex for his contribution over these last three seasons,” said GM Ron Francis. “Alex has been an important part of establishing our franchise. We wish him well in New York.”
