Jessica Platt, playing this weekend in the Seattle Pride Classic at Kraken Community Iceplex, has first-hand experience with the growing pains of pro women's hockey.

Prior to the PWHL, which just completed a highly successful inaugural season, the groundwork was laid by several forerunner leagues. 

Platt played in one of those, as a member of the CWHL's Toronto Furies.

Modest as PWHL salaries and other amenities are compared to men's pro leagues, they're a quantum leap ahead of what was offered to Platt and her peers.
