Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman provided an update on 32 Thoughts about the rumours that have started to swirl about Seattle Kraken's Jared McCann.

On Tuesday, Feb. 11, Jacob Stoller reported that the Kraken could be making their franchise leader in goals and points available at the deadline. During Friedman's podcast, he provided an update on what he's heard regarding the McCann rumours.

"Jared McCann’s name being out there is teams coming to Seattle asking if they would consider moving him; it’s not Seattle calling other teams to see if they can move him."

The report from Friedman provides clarity and logic from the Kraken's perspective. McCann is on a very team-friendly deal with two years remaining on his contract beyond this season. He's a leader in the dressing room and has shown no desire to leave, from what we know. The team's calling about McCann also makes a ton of sense. There isn't a team in the NHL that wouldn't want to add a player of McCann's calibre at his age and contract.

If the Kraken elect to move him, the price is going to be steep, and they'll have to be blown away by the offer. The Kraken hold all the leverage in the negotiations, which gives them the upper hand in getting the return they want.

The Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, New Jersey Devils and the Tampa Bay Lightning are teams that have been reportedly in search of top offensive talent, and McCann certainly fits the criteria.
