@Caroline Anne/The Hockey News - Is Former Kraken, Morgan Geekie, the Next Country Music Star?

Former Seattle Kraken forward Morgan Geekie is known as a rock star on the ice, but when he's not picking up his stick, he likes to pick up his guitar. Traded to the Boston Bruins in 2023, the 6'3" forward comes from both an athletic and a musical family. Growing up in Canada, music played a big part in Geekie's life. When his parents gave him a guitar at age nine, he was immediately hooked.

Country artist and "Hockey Tonk" host Cole Bradley invited Geekie to Nashville's Soul Train Sound Studios to collaborate with singer-songwriter (and Bruins fan), Matt Roy. Together, they created the song "Back Home," inspired by Geekie's feelings on life on the road and the desire to lay down roots with his family.

Taping of the episode coincided with the Bruins-Predators game in April of this season. Fans can hear the catchy tune in a full episode of 'Behind the B' or watch Bradley’s interview with Geekie on the NHL Network.

Nashville may be the hub of country music, but the genre has a massive following in Seattle. Maybe fans can convince Geekie to stop by the Tractor Tavern stage the next time the Bruins are in town?
