2nd Round AHL Series Tied 1-1, Moves To Coachella Valley Wednesday

Kole Lind had an on-ice message for outraged Calgary Wranglers fans after his Coachella Valley Firebirds scored the overtime winner Sunday night.

Lind put his index finger up to his mouth and mimed the "shhhh" sound.

Wranglers fans at Scotiabank Saddledome were furious about Devin Shore's OT goal, which tied their 2nd round AHL playoff series at one game apiece.

Here's a partial list of why some media reports described the goal in question as "controversial." They claim:

  • The puck had been covered by Wranglers goalie Dustin Wolf when Shore poked it under him into the net.
  • A Firebirds player exiting the ice made the zone entry offside.
  • The same player created too many Firebirds on the ice.
  • A different Firebirds player committed a roughing penalty away from the play.

That was only the start of the complaints from the Wranglers and their fans:

  • At least one Coachella Valley player had untrimmed nose hair.
  • Coach Dan Bylsma took 12 items into a 10-item-or-less checkout lane.
  • Chris Driedger forgot to put his phone on vibrate.
  • Shane Wright at their pregame meal double-dipped a chip.
  • Ryker Evans was still talking when the movie started. (This one's hard to believe.)

Lastly, for tonight's Game 3 at Acrisure Arena, the outside high temperature in Palm Desert is 90 degrees and sunny, compared with 56 and overcast in Calgary. (This one's true.) The Seattle Kraken farm team will host the remaining games of the best-of-five series.
