North Seattle, WA - Oops! They did it again! Over 70 goalies took over the Kraken Community Iceplex on Saturday, March 15th, for another fun-filled contest featuring net-minders of all ages, genders and skill levels. This year’s event kicked off with Kraken goalie Joey Daccord serving as the honored guest for the ceremonial puck drop.

“Oops, All Goalies” was created by Kyle Sorenson to bring hockey players together for a fun, social event that has quickly become a fan favorite in Seattle. The previous event, held in July 2024, saw around 60 goalies participate.

You might be wondering, how do you play a hockey game where every player is a goalie? It’s actually pretty simple, but with a few unique rules. Goalies are not allowed in the crease, all penalties result in a penalty shot, and referees have the discretion to create penalties as they see fit. During intermission, goalies can either take a quick nap on the ice or make ice angels. The game concludes with a shootout, because, of course, goalies love shootouts.

Some might argue that the best part of the event isn't just watching goalies play as defensemen or wingers, but seeing them do so in costume. Once again the hot dog and Santa goalie costumes brought the most smiles.

Joey Daccord wasn’t the only special guest from the Kraken; Buoy also mingled with guests in the stands and cheered on participants.
