And, Oh Yeah, Seattle Kraken Sign AHL Standout To One Year, Two-Way Contract

Right wing Kole Lind has signed a new contract with the Seattle Kraken, the second-best thing he's done in the organization this weekend.

Lind scored 30 goals for the AHL Coachella Valley Firebirds in the just-completed regular season. He followed that with nine more goals and 31 points during the Firebirds' run within one victory of a Calder Cup title.

That earned the Kraken farmhand a one year, two-way deal worth $775,000. The former Kelowna Rocket was a second round selection by the Vancouver Canucks in 2017, before joining Seattle as part of the 2021 expansion draft. Lind played 23 games for the Kraken in '21-'22, scoring two goals.

    Tenny's Talks

Meanwhile, Lind appeared in a video released by the Firebirds, which is highly entertaining, and just a little bit disturbing. If you haven't already seen it, it's below. First, though, let me break down the high points, and the weird points.

The show, "Tenny's Talks," is hosted by Coachella Valley defenseman Matt Tennyson. In this screenshot, is the twinkle a visual effect, or is Tennyson that darn charming?

Both Tennyson's parents and grandparents grew up in Coachella Valley. Now he can play hockey and be a TV host in his own backyard.

Showing full commitment to the bit, Kole Lind waves to the imaginary studio audience as he enters the "studio."

    Image

Also committed to the bit is defenseman Ryker Evans. "Garth?"

    Image

Whatever concerns the Kraken may have about Ryker, it doesn't appear he's in any danger of drowning. For further reassurance, Evans gives us the "thumbs-up."

While applying sunscreen, Lind introduces us to the "Saskatchewan Sunburn." Kole would know; he hails from Swift Current, Sask.

    Image

Tennyson refers to Firebirds coach Dan Bylsma not as "Coach," but by his nickname, "Disco."

    Image

Although his full nickname is "Disco Dan," maybe it should be "Disco Duck," because Lind reveals that coach Bylsma does bird calls. Really.

"Garth" somehow earns co-hosting credit, even though he never says a word.

Now you're ready... or at least as ready as I can prepare you... for the full video.
