The Seattle Kraken have acquired Mason Marchment from the Dallas Stars in exchange for a fourth-round pick in 2025 and a third-round pick in 2026.
Marchment is a towering 6'5 winger who plays a physical brand of hockey. The 30-year-old is entering the final year of a $4.5M contract, after which he'll become an unrestricted free agent. In 2024-25, Marchment scored 22 goals and 47 points in 62 games, averaging 15:20 of ice time.
“I think Mason has a unique combination of size, skill and strength,” GM Jason Botterill said in an interview Thursday, shortly after acquiring Marchment in exchange for a third-round pick in 2026 and a fourth-rounder in next week’s NHL Draft in Los Angeles. “He works well down in the corners and around the net, and that’s an element we want to continue to add to our group here.”

Marchment's skill and strength will be a valued addition to the Kraken, but he also brings a wealth of playoff experience that he has accumulated with the Stars and the Florida Panthers. He's played in 59 postseason games, scoring 11 goals and 19 points.
Marchment was an undrafted free agent who spent several seasons playing in the Toronto Maple Leafs' farm system. With the Maple Leafs organization, they worked exclusively on his skating, where they nearly transformed his entire skating stride. He played just four games with the Maple Leafs before he was traded to the Panthers, where he played the following two seasons.
The Uxbridge, ON native, has a career-high of 22 goals and 51 points.
