Seattle Kraken captain suffered an injury during a collision in the second period against the Chicago Blackhawks that will keep him out for a minimum of two games.
With two games on the schedule this weekend, HC Dan Bylsma has already confirmed that Eberle won't be available for either game. He'll undergo further tests early next week to narrow down what he has injured and the extent of the injury. Bylsma described Eberle's injury as "he essentially had a major traumatic crash into the boards, so a lot of reaction going on in his mid-body right now."
The injury occurred in the second period of Thursday's game against the Blackhawks. He and Connor Murphy were both in pursuit of the puck, had their legs and sticks tangled and both crashed into the boards, with Eberle taking the brunt of the challenge.
Despite the constant leadership that Eberle provides, they'll miss his offence that has been excellent to start the season. The 34-year-old is both second in goals and points on the team.
Eberle will be missed, especially if the injury is a long-term ailment but the trade for Daniel Sprong should help the Kraken stay afloat in his absence. Bylsma mentioned that Sprong has gotten over the border despite being unavailable today for practice. Sprong has kept himself in game shape while dealing with these issues by practicing in Vancouver.
