By the 23rd century, the Star Trek universe will routinely employee the one word the Seattle Kraken social media team already lives by.
"We take a lot of pride in engaging with our fans across each platform," says Kraken social media manager Zach Peggins.
In an interview with marketingbrew.com, Peggins explained, "Seattle is known across all sports for having loud and passionate fans, so we really wanted to lean into that, while at the same time educating fans on the game of hockey."
The Kraken's tasty social media vignettes are like potato chips. Try as you might, you can't watch just one.
Often, the bite-sized videos capture moments you might miss at the arena, or even watching on TV.
Peggins said, "We focused on showcasing our players’ personalities both on and off the ice. Social media is a great way for fans to see our players through a different lens." Here's one example:
This next clip, featuring Kraken fan favorite Brandon Tanev, has already been "liked" by 533,000 viewers.
Again this year, the social media team will be present at every game the Kraken play. "During the season, Savannah (Hollis, senior manager) and I split up the travel, so we always have one social person on road trips," Peggins says.
For those wishing to follow his lead, Peggins has this advice. "Your goal might be to do social media for a sports team, but you might have to take a different job or route to get there."
Put another way, "Make it so."
