Seattle Kraken defenseman Brandon Montour will return to the lineup to take on the Ottawa Senators.

Montour was out against the Toronto Maple Leafs due to the birth of his second child. In his absence, the Kraken faltered against the Maple Leafs, losing 4-1.

The 30-year-old spoke about the last few days with media saying that he was late to the birth of his daughter but prolonged his stay in Seattle.

Montour's return to the lineup comes at a critical time. The Kraken are set to play a Senators team with a similar record to the Kraken and both teams are in need of wins to stay in contention. The Senators score 3.9 goals per game, which is fourth-best in the NHL. They'll need Montour's defensive abilities as well as his offence to keep up with the Senators.

Cale Fleury replaced Montour in the lineup on Thursday, recording one shot on goal, one hit and two blocks in 11:47. The 25-year-old did what he was asked to do but the Kraken will be pleased to welcome back the star power of Montour.
