The Seattle Kraken have made several roster transactions ahead of the 4 Nations Face-Off break.
The Kraken have reassigned Ales Stezka and Cale Fleury to the Coachella Valley Firebirds after the two had extended stints with the NHL club. Fleury has played in seven games with the Kraken this season, recording an assist and skating in a season-high 16:24 last night against the Calgary Flames.
Stezka has still not participated in an NHL regular season game but has been up with the Kraken on multiple occasions this season to be the backup goaltender. He'll head back to the AHL, where he has an 8-12-4 record with a .902 SV% and a 3.00 GAA.
Additionally, the Kraken have placed Mitchell Stephens on waivers in an attempt to rejoin the Firebirds. With the injury issues the Kraken have faced and the demotion of Daniel Sprong, Stephens has found his name in the lineup 25 times, scoring a goal and three points. The Kraken will hope Stephens clears as he's been a key member of the Firebirds but has also been a dependable fourth line centre when called upon.
If the Kraken deal multiple forwards at the deadline, they may need to rely on Stephens to rejoin the NHL lineup.
Victor Ostman, a 24-year-old Swedish netminder will be making his way to the Kraken, from their ECHL affiliate, the Kansas City Mavericks, bypassing the AHL. In 29 games, Ostman has registered a .905 SV% and a 2.44 GAA, posting a 18-7-4 record.
