The Seattle Kraken have placed defenseman Cale Fleury on waivers for the purpose of reassignment to the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

The 25-year-old defenseman has been with the franchise since 2021 and has accumulated 22 games of NHL experience with the Kraken. The 2023-24 campaign saw him dress in 65 games in the AHL, scoring seven goals and 36 points.

He took his game to another level during the Firebirds' run to the Calder Cup finals scoring five goals and 14 points in just 18 games.

The Carlyle, Saskatchewan native played in three games for the Kraken during the pre-season, recording four shots on goal but finished as a -5 after a -4 performance in the first game against the Calgary Flames.

The 6'1, right-handed defender has proved himself to be a reliable call-up for the Kraken and is likely serving as the Kraken's eighth defenseman, with Josh Mahura serving as the seventh defender.

With Fleury heading back to the Firebirds, the Kraken's roster is now at 23 which is the required amount. One issue the Kraken are still running into is that they are over the salary cap limit. If a player finds himself on the LTIR then they could be under the limit but if not, two roster cuts will have to be made before puck drop on opening night.
