The Seattle Kraken have placed Vince Dunn on the long-term injury reserve and have recalled Cale Fleury from the Coachella Valley Firebirds.
Dunn picked up an injury against the Philadelphia Flyers that forced him to leave the game and then miss the following matchup against the Calgary Flames. The initial report from HC Dan Bylsma was that Dunn would be day-to-day with a mid-body ailment.
The 27-year-old was absent from practice once again today and with just one game of NHL action tonight between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning, the Kraken decided to place Dunn on the LTIR.
Dunn's placement on the LTIR means he will be out for either 24 days or 10 games. The soonest he can return to the Kraken lineup is Nov. 12, against the Columbus Blue Jackets. While on the LTIR, Dunn's $7.35M cap hit won't affect the Kraken's salary cap. The Kraken can afford to call up two more players besides Fleury and be compliant with the 23-man roster limit.
Dunn's replacement while on the LTIR is Fleury, who's off to a hot start with the Firebirds. In three games he has three goals which came from a hat-trick on Friday.
Josh Mahura will be Dunn's replacement in the lineup, Ryker Evans will fill in Dunn's role on the power play and Fleury is the security just in case any other Kraken defender suffers an injury.
