Seattle loses three straight road games; returns home to face Vegas Friday.

The Colorado Avalanche hosted the Seattle Kraken at Ball Arena in the Mile High City for the second of three meetings between the two teams, defeating the Kraken 6-3 in regulation. The loss, the final game of a five-game road trip, marks the third consecutive defeat.

Starting forward Jared McCann celebrated his 600th NHL career game. Heading into Tuesday night's game, McCann had 10 points (4G/6A) in 17 career games against the Avalanche.

Chris Wagner scored first for the Avs in the opening period with a wrist shot at 2:28. Jaden Schwartz briefly tied things up with a deflected shot at 12:58, assisted by Matty Beniers.

Avalanche center Ivan Ivan created a frenzy around Phillip Grubauer's net, breaking the tie with a wrist shot to give Colorado the lead. Nate MacKinnon tallied two assists on both goals.

John Hayden, called up from Coachella Valley along with Ryan Winterton, took a slashing penalty against Parker Kelly. Despite being down a man, the Kraken defense stood firm, fending off the Avs' power play and keeping the game within reach.

Jared McCann opened the second period with the tying goal on a power play following a tripping call on Samuel Girard against Jaden Schwartz. Chandler Stephenson earned an assist on the play.

Artturi Lehkonen broke the tie moments later, giving the Avs a 3-2 lead. Chaos erupted on the benches as the Kraken challenged Mikko Rantanen's goal. After review, officials reversed the call due to Colorado being offsides. However, the play clock remained paused as the officials reviewed the play again and changed their decision, confirming the goal. The goal stood, giving MacKinnon his third assist of the night and extending the Avs' lead to 4-2.

The Kraken increased their intensity peppering Avs goalie Justus Annunen resulting in Matty Beniers's wrist shot landing in the net assisted by McCann and Montour.

With the Kraken being one goal away from another tie they pull Grubauer hoping to gain an advantage. The Kraken's rally comes too late as Mikko Rantanen scores his second goal of the game on the empty netter, assisted once again by MacKinnon his fifth assist of the night.

With tempers flaring, Yanni Gourde was given a misconduct and sent to the lockers. Nikolai Kovalenko capitalized on the resulting power play giving the Avs the 6-2 win over the Kraken.
