The Seattle Kraken have re-signed John Hayden to a one-year, one-way contract with a $775K AAV.

Hayden spent last season with the Coachella Valley Firebirds scoring 15 goals and 26 points in 65 games. In 18 playoff games, he scored nine goals and 13 points.

Since joining the Kraken organization in 2022, the 29-year-old has featured in nine games.

Listed at 6'3, 223 lbs, the right-handed forward has bounced around five teams. He began his career with the Chicago Blackhawks before one-year stints with the Buffalo Sabres, Arizona Coyotes and the New Jersey Devils.

His one-way contract status means he will require waivers to be sent down to the AHL. His size and physicality can make him an effective bottom-six player if he can contribute offensively.

Hayden has had to work hard to get this contract and should be hungry next season to seize the opportunity.
