The Seattle Kraken have recalled Ben Meyers from the Coachella Valley Firebirds ahead of their duel with the New York Islanders.

The Seattle Kraken have recalled Ben Meyers from the Coachella Valley Firebirds ahead of their duel with the New York Islanders.

Jordan Eberle left Thursday's game with an injury after he and Connor Murphy crashed into the boards. HC Dan Bylsma confirmed yesterday that Eberle would be out of both weekend fixtures and would undergo further testing early next week.

Meyers is receiving his first call-up of his Kraken career. He was excellent during the pre-season and was one of the final roster cuts. If the Kraken had more cap space, Meyers likely would have made the team out of camp.

The Firebirds have had a slow offensive start to the season, but despite that, the 26-year-old has scored two goals and eight points in 11 games, one point back of the team lead.

Meyers is a natural centre but has the ability to play on the wing, the position he'll likely play on Saturday. All four Kraken centres are healthy and Meyers is replacing Eberle, who plays on the wing.

The Islanders play a heavy, defensive game and Meyers will join tonight's lineup with the task of using his offensive skill and creativity to generate goals and chances.
