The Seattle Kraken's AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, have announced they've signed Justin Janicke to an AHL contract, and he'll join the team on an amateur try-out for the rest of the season.
The 21-year-old completed four years at the University of Notre Dame, scoring 28 goals and 74 points in 143 games. His first three years in the NCAA weren’t all too impressive, recording just a career-high of seven goals and 16 points.
In his senior season, Janicke scored 15 goals and 34 points in 38 games, ranking first in goals and second in points, having the breakout season the Kraken were hoping for.
The Kraken selected Janicke with their seventh-round pick (195th overall) in the 2021 NHL draft. His 6'0, 187 lbs frame should give the Firebirds an added boost as they gear up for the playoffs in the final stretch of games.
