The Seattle Kraken have traded Brian Dumoulin to the Anaheim Ducks for a 2026 fourth-round draft pick.

Dumoulin scored six goals and 16 points in 80 games with the Kraken last year. The two-time Stanley Cup winner averaged the lowest time on ice in his career since the 2014-15 season.

Before this deal, the Kraken had six defensemen signed to their active roster. This move frees up $3.15M and could open up a roster spot for Ryker Evans if the Kraken don't sign or trade for another defenseman.

Another key point to this deal is the cap space it creates to resign Matty Beniers and Eeli Tolvanen. Dumoulin's minutes were likely to diminish even more after the signing of Brandon Montour. Montour plays big minutes and is likely going to play even more with the Kraken.

This deal helps the Ducks get closer to the cap floor and brings a veteran presence to a team filled with young exciting players.
