Seattle Kraken veterans Jared McCann and Jordan Eberle have started the 2024-25 season on offensive tears and have carried the load offensively.
Through six games, Eberle has scored five goals and seven points, one of them coming in overtime against the Calgary Flames. He's picked up points in all but one game and the newly appointed captain has led by example.
McCann has potted three goals and eight points through the first six games and is leading the team in points, something he has become very familiar with. In each of the Kraken's first three seasons, no other player has led the team in goals or points.
The point totals from McCann and Eberle are worthy of praise in itself but the timeliness of the goals they are scoring deserve attention as well. Eberle's first two goals of the season came when the Kraken were trailing 2-0 to the Minnesota Wild. In that game, McCann scored the game-winning goal with less than four minutes remaining. Both McCann and Eberle scored third-period goals against the Nashville Predators and were the kickstarters to the second-period offensive explosion against the Philadelphia Flyers.
McCann and Eberle aren't the only Kraken players who are performing offensively but they have been the driving forces in close games. Brandon Montour, Andre Burakovsky, Ryker Evans, Jaden Schwartz and Chandler Stephenson all have four points.
The Kraken have built their lineup to be balanced and the last three games have shown that it can work. At different times throughout the season, different players will find their form and produce at a high level. To start the season it's been McCann and Eberle who have shined the brightest.
