The Seattle Kraken and Adam Larsson have agreed to a contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2028-29 season.

The four-year extension was first reported by the Daily Faceoff's, Frank Servalli before the full details of the contract were reported by Sportsnet's, Elliotte Friedman. The contract will carry a $5.25M AAV that will begin following the 2024-25 season.

The 31-year-old right-handed defenseman has been with the Kraken since its inaugural season when he was selected from the Edmonton Oilers in the expansion draft. If Larsson plays out his next contract, he'll be 36 years old and will have spent eight consecutive seasons with the Kraken organization.

The team has relied on the Skelleftea, Sweden native to play big minutes against the opponent's top players. The coaching staff and management trust Larsson and this contract extension is the reward.

"Adam has been a veteran leader for our group on and off the ice the past three seasons," said General Manager Ron Francis. "He’s a big right-shot defenseman who plays a heavy, physical game and has been a cornerstone of our defence since the Kraken’s inaugural season. We’re excited to have Adam and his family in Seattle for five more years."

With hopes of making the playoffs this season, the Kraken will depend on the durable defenseman to not only be available throughout the year but to be a leader both on and off of the ice.
