According to an article by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman in Canada, Shane Wright's agent, Kurt Overhardt, said Kraken general manager Jason Botterill has "agreed to move" Wright to a new team this summer.

“I can confirm that we have had positive conversations with Botterill, and he has agreed to move Shane this summer to a team in need of a top young centre,” Overhardt said Wednesday, according to Friedman.

Shane Wright was selected fourth overall in the 2022 NHL Draft by the Seattle Kraken.

The 22-year-old has played four seasons with the Kraken, totaling 169 games, 36 goals and 42 assists. Last season, in his second full season, Wright totaled 12 goals and 15 assists in 74 games.

Wright signed a three-year contract with the Kraken on July 14th, 2022, with an $887K cap hit. The contract will expire at the end of the 2027 season.

Rumors involving a trade with Wright have circled throughout last season.

Reports from David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period indicated in January that the Kraken "were open to moving" Wright.

According to Friedman's article on Sunday, "Botterill would not comment. Other executives who’ve spoken to Seattle said there’s obviously an agreement between team and agent to work together, but the Kraken made it extremely clear they expect a fair price and won’t be pressured into anything they don’t want to do. In other words, they are making no guarantees."

While nothing is confirmed, Friedman and Pagnotta’s reports suggest Wright's time in Seattle may come to an end.
