How the NHL Featured A Kraken Hockey League Player for Goalie Week.

Robee Aquino was watching the NHL Network when he saw a clip requesting fans to send in their goalie videos. Aquino, who plays multiple positions for the Kraken's Adult Hockey League, submitted a video he took during the 'OOPS! All Goalies' game at the Kraken Community Iceplex this summer.

Aquino fixed a GoPro camera to his goalie helmet and captured himself scoring the ultimate goalie goal. Granted, he was surrounded by over 60 goalies that day, but no one else was also playing videographer. The NHL was impressed and chose Aquino's video to be featured in their Goalie Week celebrations. When asked how Aquino discovered his video made the cut, he said, 'I didn't realize it was posted until a friend sent me the post from the NHL's social media accounts!'

Watching the short clip, you might think Aquino has been skating for years, when in fact he has only played for two years. Aquino joined the Kraken Hockey League in 2022 after completing its learn-to-skate program. Aquino is also a professional photographer, which most likely contributed to his ability to video and play hockey at the same time. What you don't see after his remarkable goalie goal is Aquino's goalie stick breaking a couple of minutes later. 'It had a small crack, and I was flexing too hard.'

Since it's Goalie Week, we asked Aquino if he had a favorite Kraken goalie: 'I can't say I have a favorite goalie. I like how aggressive Joey Daccord is when it comes to playing the puck, and I enjoy how steady Grubauer is during big games. They both have great qualities that make them work in tandem.'
