Alexander True Named to the Danish Men's National Ice Hockey Team.
Former Seattle Kraken, Alexander True, will be of 23 skaters representing the Danish Men's National Ice Hockey Team in the 2026 Winter Olympics qualification tournament in Aalborg, Denmark from August 29th - September 1st. To qualify directly, countries needed to be ranked in the top eight based on the results of the 2023 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships, according to the IIHF World Ranking system. Countries are divided into groups and compete in several rounds. Denmark will face off with Great Britain, Japan and Norway. The winners of each group will advance to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. Denmark has competed in men's ice hockey at the Winter Olympics three times: in 1952, 1998, and 2018.
True, the 6'5", 199-pound Danish-Filipino forward from København, Denmark, was drafted by the Seattle Kraken in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft and signed a one-year, two-way contract. He spent most of the 2021-2022 season with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers, helping them reach the Calder Cup Playoffs. In December 2022, True made his NHL regular season game debut against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He played a few more games with the Kraken before returning to the Checkers and then finished the 2023 season with the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

True's career started early playing for Rungsted in the Denmark U-17 and U-20 leagues from 2010 - 2014. He has competed in the World Junior Championships five times and in the International Junior Championships six times. His strength on the ice earned him the title of Captain for the 2017 tournament and was given the WJC Top-3 Player award in back-to-back seasons (2016 and 2017).

Seattle hockey fans remember True from his years playing in the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds from 2014-2017 where he scored 45 goals and 39 assists. True's most memorable moment came in game 6 of the 2017 WHL Championships where he scored the winning goal in overtime.

Joining True for Denmark are the Kraken's 2023 second-round draft pick, Oscar Fisker Mølgaard, and Oliver Bjorkstrand.
