The Silvertips kicked off their pre-season by hosting the Everett Classic, a three-day tournament at Angel of the Winds Arena. Over the weekend, six U.S. teams from the Western Hockey League—the Spokane Chiefs, Seattle Thunderbirds, Tri-City Americans, and Portland Winterhawks—played a total of six games.

The Classic gives young prospects a chance to compete for a spot on the team roster. Some NHL prospects were healthy scratches, including Spokane’s Berkly Catton (Seattle Kraken), Portland’s Tyson Jugnauth (Seattle Kraken), and Everett’s Eric Jamieson (Calgary Flames).

Kaden Hammell was a healthy scratch for Friday’s game, but joined fellow Kraken draftee Julius Miettinen on Saturday and Sunday. Miettinen played in all three games and Kaden Hammell scored a goal against the Wild on Sunday.

The Silvertips won all three of their games, defeating Tri-City Americans, the Seattle Thunderbirds, and the Wenatchee Wild.

Both Kaden Hammell and Julius Miettinen are expected to participate in the Seattle Kraken's Rookie Camp on Thursday, September 12th at the Kraken Iceplex. Practice is estimated to start at 11:30AM. Check the KCI website for more info.

The Silvertips will finish their pre-season at home against the Seattle Thunderbirds on Thursday, September 12th at 7 PM. The regular season begins on Saturday, September 21st at 6 PM at Angel of the Winds Arena against the Vancouver Giants.
