Youth is likely to be injected into the Seattle Kraken lineup Tuesday when the Seattle Kraken host the Anaheim Ducks for the first of back-to-back games at Climate Pledge Arena.
Forward Ryan Winterton (above photo), a Kraken 2021 3rd round pick, will be making his second appearance this season. In three November games, Winterton averaged 8:12 TOI without a goal or assist.
At AHL Coachella Valley, the first year pro from Markham, Ontario has scored 21 goals this season, including six in his last seven games.
Logan Morrison (96), a forward with the Coachella Valley Firebirds.Forward Logan Morrison would be making his NHL debut, one that was considered the longest of long shots by most hockey observers. Morrison, who's 21, wasn't selected by any NHL team the first time he was draft-eligible... or the second time... or the third time.
Nevertheless, the Kraken signed Morrison to a three year entry-level contract in 2022. He responded with 40 goals in 56 games in his 2022-23 junior season, and 10 more in the playoffs. This year with the Firebirds, he's put up 15 goals and 40 points.
(A third callup from Coachella Valley, defenseman Gustav Olofsson, will only play if Ryker Evans is unable to. Evans took a hard check in Sunday's 5-1 loss to Montreal.)
That they arrive together make the callups especially sweet for Winterton and Morrison. They're not only teammates and buddies, but share living quarters in the Palm Springs area. The roomies are the subject of today's Kraken Reaction video.
